Supervisory CBP Officer (CDI)

This position starts at a salary of $99,172.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $128,920.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $128,920 (GS-13 Step 10). In this position, you will become a key member of the Law Enforcement Safety and Compliance Directorate team performing the below work assignments:
Coordinating all aspects of advanced training delivery; Supervising and evaluating students enrolled in advanced training programs; Providing service-wide evaluation and modification of advanced training program curricula; Overseeing, coordinating, and evaluating overall educational program activities; and Performing long-range planning and management of new substantive enforcement training programs.
Experience:
You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Have at least one year of experience as a CBP Officer or Supervisory CBP Officer, GS-1895-12, with the Federal government. Have at least one year of specialized experience including providing program direction and support of inspection, intelligence, examination and law enforcement activities relating to the arrival and departure of persons, conveyances, and merchandise in and out of the United States. CBP requires competition for selection into supervisory and managerial positions for occupations covered by competency-based assessments. Position eligibility must adhere to the Post Upgrade Promotion Rules CBP Directive No. 51332.022b requirement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 08/30/2019. All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment. This position has been identified as a secondary position as provided under the special retirement provision of Public Law 110-161 for Customs and Border Protection Officers (CBPO). In order to be eligible for coverage under this special provision, the employee must meet the definition of a 'secondary' covered CBPO. A 'secondary' covered CBPO is defined as an employee who is directly transferred from a primary position to a supervisory, managerial or administrative position in DHS after performing work for at least 3 years in a CBP Officer, GS-1895; Customs Inspector, GS-1890; Immigration Inspector, GS-1816; and/or Canine Enforcement Officer, GS-1801 position whose duties included activities related to the arrival and departure of persons, conveyance and merchandise at a port of entry, and do not have a break in service of more than 3 days. An employee who has been continuously employed in a secondary position since moving directly from a primary position without a break in service exceeding 3 days is covered under the special provision

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
