Inventory Management Specialist

The incumbent is located within the Asset Management Branch within the LESC, and is responsible for the day-to-day life cycle management of lethal and less lethal law enforcement assets stored, maintained, destroyed, and disposed of at LESC's National Vault. This position starts at a salary of $83,398.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $108,422.00 (GS-12, Step 10). MAJOR DUTIES:
Life cycle management of CBP firearms and related equipment. This would include items such as optics, magazines, and ammunition. Life cycle management of CBP less lethal assets and related equipment. This would include items such as electronic control weapon cartridges, digital power magazines, and compressed air launcher projectiles. Inspecting CBP sensitive assets and recommending when an asset has reached the end of useful service life. If it has not reached the end of its service life the employee will coordinate repair of the asset with CBP armory personnel. If an asset is within its individual warranty period(s) the employee will ensure it is serviced appropriately and, if necessary, must coordinate repair/replacement with appropriate vendor(s). Packaging and shipping, in compliance with all applicable CBP policies/directives and Department of Transportation regulations, firearms, ammunition, less lethal devices, and other related equipment for delivery to field locations throughout the United States and abroad. Identifying assets that have reached the end of their service life and administratively removing them from CBP accountability systems. Once administratively destroyed, the employee will be responsible for physically destroying the asset. All sensitive assets will be destroyed to the extent that they are rendered scrap through methods such as crushing, shredding, or cutting.
Experience:
You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Independently managing the inventory of firearms and less lethal assets and related equipment; Developing and/or recommending new or revised inventory directives and implementing instructions; and Planning for and determining current and future supply requirements to meet the needs of an organization. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 10/11/2019. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
